چکیده

Background Collection of postmortem human brain and spinal cords for research is invaluable, especially in neurodegeneration, since clinicopathologic data may lead to better understanding their pathophysiology new therapeutic targets. The National Israel Brain Repository was established 2018 began recruiting donors from two large-scale community-based studies individuals at high dementia risk: older adults with type 2 diabetes (Israel Diabetes Cognitive Decline study-IDCD) middle-aged offspring AD patients (The Registry Alzheimer’s Prevention- IRAP).We compared sociodemographic, cardiovascular (CVRFs)and cognitive characteristics who agreed did not agree sign intent autopsy (ITA) Method In the IDCD, 750 active participants, we approached 636. Of them, 196 (31%) ITA.IRAP has 480 participants whom 395 were them 176 (45%) ITA. All are Maccabi Health Services, providing CVRF 1998. Using t-test groups on sociodemographic CVRFs. For which averages 36-months follow ups, mixed regression models adjusting age, sex education tested whether signing ITA predicted trajectories. IRAP, whose follow-ups have only recently begun, used linear regressions same covariates, functioning between those Result IRAP sample, signed differ any except HbA1c (Table 1). IDCD had higher education, creatinine, BMI motor function (hand grip 3-meter walk). Finally, a slower rate decline episodic memory (Estimate = 0.002, SE 0.001, p 0.05) Conclusion Our results suggest that risk willing donate brains science do or CVRFs wish be organ donors. contrast, due T2D more educated, suggesting selection bias towards health.Development strategies diminish this warranted.

SLA: To Sign or Not to Sign

We present our experience of a three-week fieldwork in the form of a contextual inquiry with a service manager at the EPFL IT department. During these three weeks, we encounter a refusal of a user committee to sign a servicelevel agreement (SLA). We describe the context in which this refusal occurs, and we uncover our findings about the core of ITIL’s service-level management that building rela...

Characterizing persistent excitation for the sign-sign equation error identifier

AImtrad--The sign-sign (SS) algorithm is a computationaUy efficient adaptive identifier, often used in signal processing tasks. It is obtained by introducing signum functions on both the regressor and the prediction error multiplicands in the update kernel of the well-known LMS algorithm. This paper gives a deterministic persistent excitation condition on the regressor sequence which guarantees...

The White Nipple Sign: Please Do Not Disturb

Blood spurting or oozing from a varix confirms the diagnosis of variceal hemorrhage. In most cases of variceal hemorrhage, however, the bleeding has ceased by the time endoscopy is performed. Endoscopists rely on identification of stigmata of recent hemorrhage to determine whether varices are the cause of bleeding and to predict the likelihood of rebleeding. Most of the attention has focused on...

Double-duct sign: do not forget the gallstones.

A double-duct sign is the combined dilatation of the common bile duct and pancreatic duct, often caused by cancer of the pancreas. We present a patient with colicky pain in the right upper quadrant of her abdomen. On radiological imaging and endosonography, she had a double-duct sign due to choledocholithiasis and no mass in the pancreatic head. A literature search was performed, which indicate...

Chronic Brain-Dead Patients Who Exhibit Lazarus Sign

Lazarus sign, a complex reflex movement of the upper limbs after brain death, is a rare occurrence. We report two patients who showed a Lazarus sign following a diagnosis of brain death. It has been accepted that cardiac arrest usually occurs within 1 week after brain death; however, the two patients described herein survived for over 100 days after brain death was diagnosed. This report is int...
